About The Law Offices Of Hugo Pina
The Law Offices of Hugo Pina was founded by attorney Hugo Pina, the son of immigrant parents from Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Seeing his parents’ pursuit of the American dream fortified his resolve to become an attorney and help the next generation of immigrants coming to the United States. Today, as a managing partner at the Law Offices of Hugo Pina, he spearheads those efforts in both the McAllen and Harlingen offices.
Having grown up here in the Rio Grande Valley, Hugo worked hard to obtain his education. Majoring in political science, Hugo Pina graduated from Michigan State University, where he also participated in the Ronald E. McNair Scholar’s Program, and with an internship at the Criminal Justice Clinic at Georgetown Law School. From there he enthusiastically continued his career by obtaining his law degree from St. Mary’s University, where he also worked under one of the immigration field’s most esteemed experts, Lee Teran. He participated in the St. Mary’s Immigration Clinic and also served as a research assistant for the clinic.
Upon graduation from law school, he worked as an associate attorney for Tidwell, Swaim & Associates in Dallas, Texas, before taking a position as assistant district attorney in Cameron County, Texas. It was there that he was able to participate in numerous misdemeanor and felony trials and learn more about criminal law. Upon leaving the district attorney’s office he helped create Garcia, Ramirez and Pina, a law firm with multiple offices throughout Texas. As of January 1, 2016, he is now the sole owner of Law Offices of Hugo Pina.
Hugo Pina proudly and vigilantly represents clients before the immigration courts, USCIS District Offices, county courts, district courts, and U.S. federal courts. He also files client appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Administrative Appeals Office and the Texas 13th Court of Appeals.
Hugo Pina is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association, Hidalgo County Bar Association and Cameron County Bar Association.
Mondays and Wednesdays he can be heard on Radio Esperanza from 3 p.m to 4 p.m. as their legal expert contributor to their Immigration Question and Answer segment, where he provides listeners with his legal expertise and encouragement.
